New Stage In Progress


New Stage!

Just wanted to share a quick update about progress on the game's 3D art. I've been working with a 3D artist to get the remaining stages modeled and textured. Here's a couple screenshots of the nightclub stage.

Only Emissive Lighting

I want this stage to be dark like in an actual nightclub, but still enough lighting to see your character and what's going on. This screenshot is a completely pitch black scene with only emissive lighting applied. The final game will be better lit than this, but this is a useful baseline for me to know how much extra light needs to be added and where.

Emissive Plus Warm Directional Lighting


This is the same angle, just with a warm directional light added so you can see more detail. You can see a few objects randomly in the middle that haven't been placed yet. The brown looking blobs are actually bushes that look brown because of the preliminary lighting.

I actually needed to use pink lighting instead of purple so that when it bounces off the wall it looks purple. A true purple light would make the scene look blue. Later on, I'll ask the artist to change the colors so the scene can have true purple lighting. The side effect of that pink lighting though is that it makes the bushes look brown when combined with the dark green. And the other things that are more color neutral look very pink.
